is a unique event for every woman with varying needs and
desires. Below is a list of the most common services I include
in my basic doula package.
Prenatal:
- Identify
your support needs

Labor and
Birth:
- Attend and
support labor at home
- Help
"settle in" during admission and initial exam and
monitoring
- Nurture mom
throughout entire labor process
- Continuously
encourage partner with labor support for mom
- Facilitate
communication with medical staff but not make decisions
- Give
unbiased support for all decisions made.
- Assist with
hydrotherapy
- Provide
non-medical comfort options
- Offer
relaxation techniques
- Communication
with waiting family in waiting room
- Help with
"traffic control" in labor room
- Help to keep
the "desired mood" in the labor area
- Encourage
mobility and position changes
- Offer
alternatives to coping strategies
- Relieve
partner for eating or bathroom breaks
- Take pictures
of baby and family (if desired)
Postpartum:
- Assist with
initial breastfeeding
- Encourage
parent-baby bonding

family phone calls

information to waiting family members
- Tidy up room
and prepare for transfer to postpartum room
- Remain
available by phone for at least 2 weeks following the birth.
- A visit
approximately 1 to 2 weeks following birth to recap events,
discuss any questions or concerns and assist with continued
breastfeeding.

Fees
All
packages include a
1-hour consultation.
Basic
Doula package: $500
- 2 prenatal
visits
- Phone support
throughout pregnancy (normal business hours unless emergent)
- 24 hour phone
support starting 2 weeks prior to due date
- Continuous
active labor support
- 24 hour phone
support for 2 weeks following your birth
- 1 postpartum
visit in your home
