Postpartum Doula
A postpartum doula is a professional support person who assists mothers and families through the adjustments and challenges a new baby can bring. Similar to the experienced support women receive from a labor/birth doula, the extra knowledge and physical support of a post partum doula can develop a women’s confidence during the postpartum period. The duties of a doula can include breastfeeding support, newborn care, physical & emotional support or even light housekeeping and errands.
The demands on women to “do it all” can be overwhelming, but having the gentle encouragement of a well-trained caregiver can make a real difference. Postpartum doula services include many aspects of support and care for the entire family but focus mainly on the mother and the newborn.
